Celebrate Singleness| By Gabby Jones

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (NIV)

You do not hear or see many women jumping for joy because they are single and loving it. I realized this a few months ago, and I started verbally stating how happy I am that I am in this season of singleness. You could imagine how many people looked at me weird as I stated how my life was content with no husband and kids, because it is the 1950s, and I should have 4 kids by now.

If you are married, with or without kids, you are doing great, and I am glad God has blessed you with such a tremendous life. However, ladies who are currently single, keep your head up and enjoy being single!

I woke up one Saturday morning, and I realized that I did not need to do anything, be anywhere, or talk to someone on a consistent basis, and that's when I realized how great being single was. I get to do whatever I want, be wherever I want, and not expect anything out of myself or anyone else. I was living in the now, breathing and relaxing in God's great grace, and not yearning for a guy to pursue me.

I have had times in my life where I was always trying to grab a guy's attention, but after a while, I realized how exhausting that could be. My self confidence was down, and I felt worthless. I was so busy looking for affirmation from a relationship that I forgot that I get affirmed daily from my God.

I have been to many weddings, and I get excited for my friends starting a new chapter in their lives. However, there is no room for jealousy. My time will come, and I fully believe and trust God with His will.

I encourage you ladies today to celebrate your friends as they get married and have kids, but also celebrate your singleness because there is still so much out there for you to do! Everyone's journey is different, so do not compare yourself to another story when your book is in a different section. You may think you are ready to mingle, but God may have other plans for you currently. Do not fight Him on what you think HE needs to do in your life.

“...and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.” Colossians 2:10 (NIV)

Ladies, please do not let anyone get onto you about being single and waiting for your husband. Your worth is not found in their words or this world. God has an amazing plan and future for your life whether you are wanting to get married, or not! Either way, always remember that you are safe, secure, and sufficient in Christ Jesus.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
