There you are, laying in bed, tears falling down your face. You feel worthless and less than, and there is no way God could love you in this state. There is no way God can uplift you with everything you have done. Your sin has piled up, and God's face has turned away.
The love God has for you is incomprehensible. There is nothing you have done and nothing you can do to make God love you anymore or any less. He chose you to be loved by Him. On the mountain, His love is pouring over you; in the valley, His love is surrounding you. When your mental health is telling you that you are nothing, God is holding you, saying you are EVERYTHING.
There are days where I feel like I cannot face God because of the sin in my life. I know He is never going to leave me, but I feel like I need to walk away because who can forgive a wretch like me?
Our God is not a God who will turn away from you in your darkest moments. He is not easily pushed away, and your fear and anger do not phase Him. His arms stay open, waiting to hold you again. His love longs to show you how worthy you are to always be loved.
“Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.”
Lamentations 3:32 (NIV)
There are going to be days where you feel like you feel far from Him, but He is not far. There are days where you feel like you cannot hear Him, but He is softly encouraging you to be in His presence. He does not mind you praying yourself to sleep, and He does not mind you yelling your heart out when you are upset. From the time you were in your mother’s womb to this very moment, He is constantly rooting for you to be loved and to be as worthy as He sees you.
Surrender to His love and feel the warmth of His heart. You do not ever need to worry about how God feels about you because He loved you from the beginning. He loved you first.
“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19 (NIV)
